Garage door tracks for shelves?

I was thinking about using the tracks that my garage door runs on as part of a shelf to store "not so heavy" things above. All I would do is mount something to the wall side, maybe 1 support brace in the middle of the track, and add wood. Has anyone done this? Am I asking for trouble?

I have a three car garage, with two doors; one is 16', another is 8'. I have built shelves between the two GDO tracks, as well as from the GDO tracks to the walls. I screwed 2X2s to the GDO track, and another to the wall. I then laid down plywood between the 2X2s and screwed down the plywood.

The center shelf, between the two GDO tracks keeps an extension ladder underneath and pipe above.

The other two shelves are for boxes and scrap lumber.
