Forgive me if this is a tired subject, but I have a LiftMaster garage door opener, it's an older model. I recently replaced the circuit board, all works great now, but now when the garage door is open, anyone/anything that crosses the sensors on either side of the door trips the garage opener light. We leave our door open during the day, going in and out, and it drives me nuts to have that light come of and on. Our wall control is the old single "doorbell", and I think I need a fancier control to turn that light feature off. Could someone tell me which control will work - I have looked at a Chamberlain model 945cb, and also a Liftmaster model that has the individual light button. My husband doesn't get involved in this, says it doesnt bother him lol. Thanks so much for any info!

Liftmaster FAQ

A multi-function door control is necessary for setting light controls. A multi-function door control has a Light, Lock and a pushbutton to open and close the garage door.

If you do not have a multi-function door control you will not be able to permanently change these light options. Refer to your manual to verify if your opener has these options.

Is the door opening "fully" when the door is open?

Sometimes if the spring is not adjusted correctly the door will not open far enough.

Another option might be to find a sneaky way to install a garage door opener that will open the door all the way up onto the rails to give you clearance.

Your opener is working exactly like it should. Anytime the beam is broken, the light comes on and stays on for 4 1/2 minutes, unless the beam is broken again, then the time starts all over again.

I don't have any part numbers or know what models are compatible with the opener as far as what wall station you need. Sorry. We don't run across this problem.

Just letting you know that what it is doing is totally normal.

Thanks for all the replies; the door functions exactly as it should, and I really don't want to disable the sensors. I just don't want the light coming on every time the beam is broken. Thank you LB-1911 for the links to various controls, these were some I had looked at. I'll order one, install it and hope I can disable the light. But if not, I'll have a good control on the wall. BTW, my husband is a member of this forum, I didn't know that. He speaks highly of this site!

Thanks again!

Get into the head of the unit and find the two wires that go to the bulb socket. Cut into one of the wires and install a switch. Either a pull chain one you could mount into the housing of the opener. Or you could run some wire from the head to the wall someplace and put a single pole switch on the wiring. Both very easy and cheap fix
