We have 3 LiftMaster openers on our doors and a least once a year one of them will "forget" the code for one of our remotes. We just get the ladder out and reprogram the opener to that remote. Perhaps you have had something like that happen.

Does it try to move at all?
Could be the board, I have replaced 1 of mine 2x in 22yrs (same door) which is odd that it's the wife's side and doesn't get used near as much as mine. But what you are describing is what it was doing both times. Wall button worked but not the remotes.
Went through these steps and tested after each step.
Take out bulbs to make sure they aren't LED.
Replace battery in remote.
Check down force adjustment
Try programming the remote from other door to non-working door. (the program button on mine would not act like the instructions said.) That's when I replace the board.

Get the model number off the board and search amazon. If you find 1 you may be able to return it if it doesn't work.

I had to remove the board from the cover mine came with since they had changed the design( its just screwed on). From there it's pretty straight forward.

Good luck. And welcome to the GJ

Could be lots of causes, before you do some drastic try calling the Garage Door Openers Technical Support telephone line.

you mention its during the closing of the door. Does the remote work normally when opening?

If so, when using the wall button, does is lower all on its own with just a normal press, or do you have to hold the button the whole time while its lowering?

I helped with a friend's opener that had the above symptoms and it turned out to be a defective obstruction sensor. The opener had a diagnostic code that also confirmed an issue with the sensor.

Door work well by hand, easy to open and close by hand. The remotes (2) will open door but not close it. remotes work on second door ok. Replaced sensors and checked for alignment. Also if beam broken sensors flash.
Sorry about not replying sooner but moving into a new (to me) house and a lot on plate. Also old so very slow.

Sounds like the control board.

Will the remote work if you are inside the garage? Even up on a ladder close to the opener? That can tell you a lot.
