Garage door window inserts

The vinyl window inserts on our garage door are damaged thanks to my three sons shooting tennis balls at a hockey net - and missing!

Initial measurement of windows would indicate something like 43.5" x 17.5". The pattern is a sunset or sunray style but I'd like to change if I can.

These are older wooden doors. Can't see name of manufacturer and installer is out of business.

Where can I buy replacement inserts? Local crook simply suggested I spend $1,500 plus tax on new steel doors! I'm in Ontario but will shop anywhere just to get them!

Well wood doors aren't so well supported anymore... So yeah you're pretty SOL finding replacements.

Know anyone with a vinyl cutter? :) Usually looks better than those inserts too...

So, what exactly is damaged? Are the windows/glass broken? Can you explain it better? Maybe show us some pictures? They should be able to fix if we knew more about them.

Hello,

Windows aren't broken (they might be plexiglass?)

It's the plastic or vinyl molded inserts that have been broken (by my kid's non-hockey playing friends - Ontario hockey players rarely miss the net!)

Well kids in Quebec would hit the top corners of the net every time, so I can't help :bounce:

This is why I joined this forum.
These are wwwwaaaayyyy funnier than any comedy club.

Maybe Kijiji or Craigs List for the windows?

I once ordered a single replacement panel for a garage door from Home Depot. I was living in a rental and damaged the bottom panel of the door -- but that's another story!

If you are still looking for them, I have a few sources for garage door window inserts here.

I've purchased decorative window insert directly from National in the past by sweet talking them, but had to purchase a box for about $50. It was more than I needed but actually worked out quite well as some neighbors were in need too. At the very least they may be able to identify your insert and point you in the direction of a vendor that would have your style. National manufactures many of the window inserts for various garage door companies and have a large selection.

I have another resource listed there as well and you can download a catalog from their site to see if there is a match. I will be adding to this list as I find them, so hopefully this will be a good resource for others in this situation. Good Luck!
