Started building 28x32 garage with 28 being front. What is the best size roll-up door to use? Thought about two 10 ft. or one 18 ft. Which would be better ? Thanks for input.

Assuming a normal steel sectional door - I'd go for 16' or 18' wide. Makes for getting something in the middle of garage real easy. I do that all the time to detail my truck and wife's car. You also end up with half the moving parts, maintenance, and headaches. The labor savings of using one door and operator should allow you to use a heavier duty door that will last longer than a basic residential door.

One thing to watch is that the header has to be sized for the span - will be engineered lumber or maybe steel depending on the structural loads it has to carry.

I would go with a 16' door. 16' is a standard size so the price will be cheaper, odd sizes cost more. Also try to get a 8' tall door or even 9 or 10' tall.

Two 10' wide doors and a walk in door next to them. As for height, go with what you can...8' minimum would be a good starting point. Two doors are more expensive, you'll need two electric openers, if you want them, but you won't be sorry. It will look better and be more functional...

Dont know if those are the norm door sizes for your area as here its 9wide or 16 wide, usually 7 high but easy to get extra height in 1' increments. I am hoping one day to get exactly what you got thinking there for size and would no doubt want 2 9x8s or 9x9s with the 10.5 ceiling.

I went with them on my new garage, mostly cause when you do have two cars in there with the one big door, the cars are to close to one and other to do any real work, without worring about banging doors.
with two doors with a gap of a couple feet gives you plenty of room to open both of the cars doors without worring about hitting.
hope this helps you out.

Yeah, 10' doors aren't standard here. Basically the standard is this:
8'x7': Standard
9'x7': Bonus, extra foot wide
8'x8': Odd looking, popular upgrade in Toll Bros., etc. tract housing
9'x8': The common size in custom homes...$750,000+
I recommended the sizes I did because you have the space, and as we all like our garages here, that is the best use of it. Like Rich said especially for the car doors and everything. Space the doors a couple feet apart, as well as from the walk in door, and it will keep everything looking nice, symmetrical. If the doors are too small, the garage will look overwhelming. One big door just doesn't look as good. Hope this helped...
