I need some advise on garage doors. I do not plan on heating the main garage so will uninsulated doors be ok? These will be used everyday and have auto lifters too. I've heard they don't hold up as well....true? What do you have?

I just replaced 3 8x7 doors with Clopay uninsulated doors from Home Depot. They were cheap ($224) and came pretty well packaged.

There are a lot of different options with doors - insulated with steel on the inside will be more durable and heavier. The thin stamped steel doors like I have are indeed, thin and lightweight. I plan on insulating them myself though. Somewhat flimsy, but perfect for what I wanted.

I live in Maine...Northern Maine. I'm more than halfway to the North Pole...But I don't need the doors to keep heat in. Are the non-insulated doors not going to hold up to everyday use????

Is your main garage under a bedroom? If so, and you are in an area of cold weather, I would consider an insulated door. I live in Ontario (Canada) and have two Garaga fully insulated aluminium doors. One is 7x17 and the other is 7x12. I do heat my garages. They weren't cheap!! LOL

I use Ideal Commercial 5 star insulated doors on all my projects. available at Menard's. They are heavy duty and metal on both sides. The uninsulated doors are way too flimsy in my opinion, plus they are way too noisy. If you have neighbors, they will like not hearing you grind and pound in the wee hours. You garage dwellers know what I'm talking about. I live in Indiana.
