Looking to replace garage doors, 2 singles. I'm planning on steel non insulated. What is the advantage of insulated? It's about $150 more each door.

No air vents are inside garage and I'm in SC which does get hot but not that cold.

Thanks

Insulated doors are stronger. The foam inside provides a significant boost to the strength of the door. It also absorbs vibration so they operate quieter. If you find an insulated and uninsulated door of the same size and just push on them with your hand, you will be able to feel how much more the uninsulated one flexes.

Edit: I miss typed before. The uninsulated ones flex more not less.

I have insulated doors and I did notice a temperature difference in the winter (albeit not huge).

Overall, it does make the door stronger, gives better sound insulation (use pneumatics a lot?), and most importantly it looks better and will give you a higher-end feel when looking at home resale value. Especially if you've decked out your garage with cabinets, etc.

I recommend doing it.
