Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has an entry chime rigged up so that when anyone would walk into the garage through the main door, the chime would sound. I sometimes leave the main door open while I am doing other things, and would like to know when someone enters the garage. I tried looking around our local big box stores, but they have motion sensor alarms that will sound. I am looking for something with a "beam" that someone crosses and trips the chime.

This driveway alert is on sale all the time at HF. Although it is a driveway alert you can set it up to detect someone walking thru your garage door. It's cheap, simple and you can keep the Chime in the house or anywhere else you want to keep it.

Radio Shack used to sell these... Don't know if they still do now since they've abandoned their roots and tried (very hard, at that) to be like every other toy store.

I 2nd the HF driveway alarm shown above. I know 2 diffrent guys that have them. Work very well!
The reciever runs on batteries or a non-supplied AC wall wart adapter. The transmitter uses a 9V battery only.

The drive way alert from HF works too well! I got as far as mounting the reciever in the shop, left the transmitter/sensor sitting on the counter in the house. Wife was moving some random **** and triggered it. I came back up to the house to ask her why she was tripping the transmitter. I actually saw the light bulb go on above her head. She says that the transmitter is the best way to get ahold of me because I won't answer my phone when I'm in the shop. The transmitter now stays on a shelf facing the wall in the house for when SHE wants to get ahold of me. Batteries might not get replaced on my end in a real hurry.

But Ihave to say for 14 bucks, this little unit works very well.
