garage facelift

I figured i would share my garage facelift. Nothing like some of the work done on here but it feels good to get it looking better and not having neighbors wanting to burn my garage down. Started out by replacing the rotted and termite damaged sill plate on one side. The fix by some previous owner was to pour cement where the rot was. My friend and i removed that jacked the garage up and slipped in a new 4X6 P.T sill.

Then i wanted to do one door instead of the 2 8Ft wide doors . The center post was rotted which made the header sag about 2 to 3 inches.

Removed all the old trim, old doors and made a new header

Installed the new header and opening for the new 14 ft wide door. My friend and brother-in-law helped with this part. (my friend is in the pictures)

Then we had a company come out and vinyl side it. They blocked up a window on my neighbors side and used the vinyl shake siding

I had to cut the lower 8 inches from the bottom of the garage on 2 sides to replace the rotted siding.There was 6 to 8 inches of dirt piled up against the garage for god knows how long which caused the rot and termite damage in the first place

The single larger door really looks much nicer. looking good.
