Garage feed grounding

I am in Alberta and just built a 28x38 garage.I will be running power from the power pole (200amp) to the garage (200amp panel).

The existing underground wire is 00 that will feed the panel,from there,it will go to a splitter panel that will tie into a useb90 #2 underground feed to a small 6 stall campground.

My question is do I need a ground rod/plate at the garage?It is grounded at the power pole..

I'm a little confused. Are you splitting off the pole, before the meter? So you'll have a meter at the house and a meter at the garage?

Either way, you're going to need multiple ground rods driven.

Sorry, from the power pole it is metered w/ 200 amp breaker,from there it goes to a splitter box,one feed to my house and one underground to my garage .This feed use to feed my well shack ,then contines to the small campground. Now, it will go into my garage,then a useb90 #2 to the well shack into a splitter and on to the cmpgrd.Hope this makes sense...

Yes, regardless of the grounding @ the pole, you will need 2 ground rods @ your garage. Every detached structure requires its own GES(grounding electrode system). Make sure to bond any metal water pipe that may be coming into your garage.

Nobody in Alberta uses ground rods,bury a ground plate and be done with it.You will also need one at the well shack and campground if you are using USEB.

Good point. I didn't catch that he's in Canada! You guys do things differently up there. Out of curiosity, how much do those plates cost? They must be expensive!

Well,too late...I purchased 2-5/8" x10ft grounding rods today,placed them about 18" away from my footings and 10'5" apart. Will tie them together with #6 copper and back to the panel.

The shack and cmpgrd have ground rods already.
