I have been fixing a friend's harley and the damn thing left a 6ft x 2ft puddle of primary fluid on the floor. This **** is at least as bad as oil, maybe worse. Any suggestions on what to clean it with? This is a serious stain.

at work at the old shop, when we use to spill oil on the concrete floor, all we would do is put speedy dry on the puddle and grind it in with own feet then we would sweep it up and it was good as new........... Good Luck

That's a huge spill, for small spills in the garage I've always used carb cleaner or brake cleaner.

That technique works very well with clay-based (cheap) cat litter too.

Yeah, I've used cat litter before. I've already gotten up as much as I can, but now I need something to clean the actual stain that it left. I guess I can try carb cleaner but I'll probably need a gallon of it. :wtf:

i tried that pasty orange smeeling stuff for some older oil stains that i had. the stuff is thick like pancake batter. i let it sit until dry them broomed up the dust to reveal the same spot completely unbothered by the citrus concoctioin... nice...

Castrol makes something that some people on this site have had luck with. I think it's called super clean. I've never used it, so can't speak to it's effectiveness.

if you're in a position to hose out the floor try dawn dish liquid. it disolves grease/oil and then you can wash it off.

no better solution than any of the above, but another option.

I friend made a tool for big clean ups in his commercial shop. A 4x8 solid core cinder block laid on it's side with a broom handle attached using appropriate anchors. Once the heavy stuff was cleaned up, another application of the kitty litter was ground up on the floor by sliding the tool (cinder block) back and forth with the handle. The pulverized powder gets into the pores of the concrete. You can use a brick by hand for smaller spills.

I just bought a product ($5 / can). It is made by Stone Mason and is in a Spray can. Works like magic. You just spray it on the oil, let it soak for five mins and then wipe it up with clear water and a rag. If you can't find it let me know and I will get you the product number.

You might try putting paint thinner on the stain, then sprinkle a layer of cat litter on top of it. The litter will wick out the stain. Works for me.

You guys are full of tricks. I believe I have some paint thinner on hand, might try that first. I'm sure my wife will complain about the smell. But, she already complains about the stain... can't win either way.

ZEP janitorial products makes a product called mean green. you dissolve it in hot water and mop the area with it. that stuff really cuts oil and grease.

Simple Green and a toothbrush! I suppose you could use simple green and a cat, he doesn't have any litter left anyway.

ive heard comet cleanser works, have not tried it yet myself. sounds like a good excuse to epoxy your floors. might look into whatever solvent is used to clean floors prior to epoxy.
