Garage floor coating/welding

Next spring, I would like to spruce up the garage. My wife would like a coating on the floor, but I'm worried my welding will destroy it. Is there anything out there that would hold up decently for the occasional welding/cutting/grinding project?

Bare concrete...

Epoxy is probably your only other option but even then, it's likely to damage if you get big drops of slag on it.

Yeah, I figured that was the case, thought I check to see if there was anything new out there.

hellfire. Ghostshield will hold up relatively well too I'm told. At least that's what the sellers of said goods tell me. Epoxy will bubble up something awful with slag or splatter (mig, plasma, not even going to discuss torch).

I have an epoxy finished garage floor for 6 years or so.
I always throw down a Tillman canvas welding blanket on the floor, under my bench or sawhorses before I do any welding.
I've had a few burn throughs, but those were from cutting steel with a torch, cutting slag.

My shop has epoxy. Lots of grinding, welding and slag. Sweeps up nice, but you can see where I work; where I walk; and where stationary items used to sit.

Its a shop.

I had thought of grinding/polishing and densifying the concrete. Until I priced it.

I have dark blue epoxy and it’s not as noticeable as in a light color that shows the black scorch.

I have one corner of my 30x34 space that I sealed but did not coat as with the rest of the space. Taht has worked out pretty well for me.

I can say from experience epoxy does not hold up well to hot work. I used GhostShield on this slab and am 'lukewarm' on the product. It's not terrible, but it's not great. It has held up well to the limited amount of hot work I have done (still setting up shop). Has not held up well to fluids.

Coat the floor and use a welding blanket or sheet of diamond-plate where you weld

SLAG is a killer. Nothing can stop slab from being destructive beyond a covering like steel.

That said our HEllFire is fairly heat resistant...

Ghostshield System we carry is great for welding environments since it penetrates and the welding slag had nothing to burn. A welding mat is also a good choice for protecting epoxy.
