Garage Floor Dilema

I just finished coating my garage floor with the Rustoleum Epoxy Shield Professional Floor Coating. I followed the directions to the letter taking about 2 days to properly prepare the floor and about 4 hours to apply the coating. Did I mention this was a new garage floor? I am about 24 hours after completion and I am not very happy with the results. I chose not to add the chips because I don't like the look but I did add the recommended anti slip powder. I am kind of at a loss wondering if I should put on a second coat or something, I have sent a note to the manufacture requesting assistance. I have about $500 invested and I am hesitant to put more money into it. I have posted some pictures, any advice?

HOW NEW OF CONCRETE?

If you check the instructions there is a certain curing time for the concrete BEFORE coating is allowed.
Are the flat [not shiny spots] whats bothering you?
Looks like you didn't cross roll your coating and get it all together [just like painting a wall].
We found this needs done on some floor coatings.

The only thing wrong with Rustoleum's Pro epoxy is that they don't sell it as a two coat system. The first coat always looks like hell because it's soaking into the concrete.

If you look at all the boutique products advertised on this forum, you'll notice all of them recommend 3 coats: primer, color, clear. In reality, the "primer" and "color" coats are the same stuff. Sometimes the manufacturer specs more or less material for one or the other... but it's generally the same material.

So... yes, put on a second coat. I also recommend the clear coat. The colored epoxy is more of a semi-gloss (which goes down to no gloss after a few years of use). The clear is a hard gloss.

As for cost... look at how much it would've cost to have a pro come in and do it or buy something like Wolverine. My Rustoleum floor was 2 color coats and a clear coat and was still only something like $0.80/sqft.

porphyre - Thanks for the input, I will do some homework on the second coat, I wouldnt think I would have to do very much prep work, just make sure it is clean.

The re-coat directions are clearly spelled out in the paperwork that came with your product.

I cannot find an online version of the colored epoxy directions, but the Clear Coat instructions are basically the same. Those instructions can be found here:

HEY--all in all -your floor looks ALOT better then some of the pro jobs i have seen done around here

Give it another coat -like is mentioned in the forum--

Looks exactly like most first coats of epoxy with two coat systems, but if you put in the anti slip that might show through the second coat unevenly because the first coat always has an uneven spread of epoxy that can unevenly attract and hold the anti slip. Otherwise it should look great after the second coat if the anti slip is even.

Make sure you can recoat. I used qwickcrete brand and it looks like complete ****.I called and they said I could not recoat, after they said it was my fault for listening to thier tech line on when I could apply.
