Hey guys,

I need some advice on garage floor paint.

I want to install racedeck free flow tiles and would like a uniform color undernieth. I want something that will really last.

I hear pink is the new pimp color. :lol_hitti

I have no other advice. Sorry. I imagine there are some cheap concrete paints that will do the job of coverage. What color tiles are you going with? Are you looking for a bold color underneath?

Depending on the colors of tiles the floor color should be neutral and I believe most paints should do the trick you probably don't need something expensive because odds are normal wear and tear and preferences will change by the next time you repaint or change the flooring.

If your going to be putting tile overtop of the painted floor, I don't think you need the top of the line paint. If your not daily driving on the painted floor, there is no worry of hot tire pickup. The only real marks you will have is where the tile contacts the floor and rubs a little.

I would definately paint the floor underneath the free flow tiles, if you ever spill anything, you wont stain the conrete. Maybe go with a medium or light grey. Something close to concrete color, very neutral and resale safe.

I used U-coat it on my garage floor (over 1 year, no complaints) daily driven (no tiles), and I did my basement floor with BEHR 1-part Epoxy Acrylic. It's only used to walk on and its been good for about a year as well. Only prep was vacuum, primer and paint.
