Garage floor pitting, need advice!

Hi everyone! I have an issue that I was hoping to get some feedback for. My home is two years old. We moved in about 6 months ago. I have had some pitting in my garage floor right at the garage door that has gotten worse since moving in. It looks as though the salt/water that drops from the vehicles then collects at the door and then freezes/thaws. I have talked with one contractor and he thinks the best solution is to cut the concrete and just re-pour this area. I am worried however that the condition would just recur. Another recommended vinyl concrete patch. I am looking to epoxy my floor soon and would like to get this matter resolved. Five pics are linked below. Thank you all for the advice!

If your prep work involves scoring it with a grinder, you will remove a lot of what might be ready to give leaving you with a solid floor to work with. There are a lot of patch materials to choose from. What you want to be careful with is that the patch material is compatible with the coating you use. You would have the effected area filled in with a patch and then grind it to be flush with existing surface. We have a high impact product that is mixed with Michigan aggregate that matches existing conrete very well. Once it's ground, you can hardly notice it. Once it's coated, you will never notice it. You're in the snow belt...where abouts?

I have just gotten through repairing one huge job in my own garage. I have had a great experience with 100% solids epoxy and sand, and if you grind after it will get the same texture as the concrete. If you do go with one of the polymer modified concrete patch materials, do your homework, I went with Mapei Quickpatch, after 30 days it will reach 4000 PSI strength. It will not have quite the same finish as the concrete, a little finer finish, but it has no real sand to the mix, very fine. They have two versions of the product according to the wholesaler locally that I got mone from, one for interior or coated surfaces and one that was rated for outdoor exposure. I went with the one for outdoor, though they told me I didn't need to because it was going under the polyaspartic polyurea coating. If you want any info or application tips, we learned alot.

Thank you for the input! I am located in Nebraska. The biggest concern for me was the main part of the pitting was either on the garage door contact area or on the outside where I have a west facing garage. This gets a lot of UV exposure etc during the summer months. One of the contractors I spoke with said that once the salt gets into the concrete it will continue to flake/pit so no matter what kind of patch I applied, the existing concrete next to it would eventually flake/pit. Does that make any sense? I am still hoping to simply patch! Thanks again! Chad
