Hello everyone,

I'm looking to install Polyurea in my garage. When I first moved in 2 years ago, there were vinyl tiles glued to the floor. I had a contractor remove the tiles and the glue, but there's still quite a bit of residue as you can see in the photos.

What's the best way to remove these residues prior to installing the Polyurea?

Thank you!

You need to grind the floor and remove the glue in the process. You may end up having to wet grind with the Diamabrush removal tool.

Request the Mastic Removal Tool, by Diamabrush.
Use a cup-wheel hand-grinder combo for the wall.

Agree with above, the mastic has to come off by grinding. Coatings can only stick to reasonably well prepared bare concrete or other properly prepared coatings, not mastic.

You may want to consider hiring someone to do this. Also depending on the age of the floor some older mastics had asbestos in them!

Alternately we often recommend instead of the difficulty of removing the adhesive, just go over them with garage tiles like our www.supratile.com or something similar.
