Garage Floor System to Use?

Hi All,

In the next week I need to purchase and use a garage floor paint system. The concrete was poured last summer, then a new garage built over it. The floor was a six sack concrete with a steel trawl finish. It is 4 inches thick with #3 rebar on 12 inch centers. Deep crack breaks were placed when it was poured. I will need to put something in there to keep nuts from going into the black holes.

The concrete was covered during all of the construction, 10 mil plastic, and so it is very clean never any oil.

I do not plan on grinding it, the steel finish is fine. A couple of small spots I can hit down with my angle grinder and concrete cutter.

I would like to know which system most people here are happy with? The space is about 44x22.

Thanks, JD.

I think you will get better answers if you add a few other things to you post:
- Budget
- How the garage will be used? Will there be a lot of chemicals in use?
- How "expert" are you at DIYing?
- Do you want a clear finish, colored with flakes, something else.

That will help the experts on here narrow it in for you.

JD, that steel finish probably has very little porosity. Coatings need porosity to stay attached to your floor.

Look at acid etching if grinding is not possible. Although grinding is preferred for a variety of reasons.

Perfectly. Armorclad 100% solids epoxy is not affected by radiant heat, and transmits it fine. Please leave the heat off and the slab should be cool while applying, that's it.
