We have been putting a lot of work of late into keeping customers updated and informed on garage floor tiles, as there are a lot of things that continue to change in the industry. Just yesterday, we had a customer call us about a tile they had seen on the Home Depot website, and they were asking why it was so much cheaper. It turned out it was very lightweight and made oversees.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when looking at Garage Floor tiles

The quality difference between American Made products and those made overseas is night and day. If you are considering one, you will find that most of the time the free samples are these tiny little pieces. Make sure you get a full-size tile and compare it to the American-made products before ordering.

Ribbed or Flow Through tiles tend to look cleaner and stay drier than solid tiles. But it all depends on the application you are using the tile for. Tiles with small textured coins (like HDXT Coin) are great for creepers and other items being rolled frequently.

PVC tiles WILL stain from tires eventually. If you go PVC, go black. We prefer Polypropylene for most garage applications.

Siding trim or wider planks are great for concealing expansion gaps.

Installing Tiles

Know what tool you are going to use to cut tiles and get the right blade.

If there is an elevation change from the driveway to the garage, you need to set the tiles back slightly to avoid the tires pushing them.

It is important to understand edges and corners. Typically you want female edges at the garage door.

Excellent information! I only wish I’d thought of the laminate cutter when I did 1,000 sq ft of FreeFlow in my current garage. I used a jigsaw with a fine to the blade and it worked fine, but it was a lot of work.

I cant imagine using a jig saw. How many blades did you go through? A table saw works great and for those who are used to working with one it might even be faster than a laminate cutter

Only one blade. The FreeFlow cut pretty easily, but it was tedious. On my prior RaceDeck floors, I had a table saw that made easy work of the job.
