I am having my garage floor tiled with porcelain tile, but I was thinking of putting race deck or swizztrac or something under the tire paths to keep the floors clean and prevent any chips from rocks in the tires. My trucks goodyear duratrac tires hold large gravel pieces a lot and I dont want them chipping a tile edge. Can also bring a little flair or color to the garage thats not so permanent. Has anyone done this I know I have seen pics of race deck done just in the tire paths in a garage but for the life of me I cant find them now. I must not be using the right key words in my searches.

One of the reasons to use porcelain tile is because it's relatively "indestructible" the other reason is because it's easy to replace if damaged..

Just get a couple extra boxes of tile when you do your floors so you can replace anything that chips out.

Right now, HD has some 12X24 porcelain "marbleized" tile for less than $1/sf.

We would probably have tiles to make 'lanes' with our solid PVC www.supratile.com which we have posted previously that we have a bunch of odd lot/overstock at super prices.

The solid tiles are also less prone to moving around and slipping as the solid rear base has a lot mor surface are on the floor bs. A hollow type plastic tile.

Another solution is to get a roll of our Armorcover roll out mats and cut lengthwise to make two long rubber strips.

We often supply the tiles to firehouses who use them during the winter as an overlay when they put carbide chains on the fire equipment tires.

You could recess the tracks about 3/16" and lay in two strips of clear polycarbonate (Lexan) sheets. Then you'll be able to see the tile through the clear sheet and replace it when it gets too scuffed. It's a bit costly, but it would look cool as hell.
