Garage floor to office space

I'd appreciate some advice from those wiser than me -

I have a 40 year old garage which has a concrete floor in reasonable condition, and I'm converting it into a office space that I will use daily and may sometimes meet clients in.
So, I want a finish thats practical, but also looks good. It might also get a small amount of use as a photo studio so a clean fresh (maybe white) look will be preferable.

I also don't want the finish to be slippery if possible, but at the same time don't want to be walking on a floor that feels like sandpaper!

Can any recommend the best DIY approach, thats hard wearing, looks good and won't have me repainting in a years time!

Concrete will **** the life out of your legs and those of your client. I'd be all over a cork floor in such an application. Nice feel underfoot, softer by a thousand times than concrete and a thermal barrier of some measure. The DIY nature of the project keeps it to 3-4 buck a foot...your body will thank you.(and the first instrument that's dropped and doesn't break might just pay for it!!!

Cork flooring really is nice. Indoor/outdoor carpeting is nice too. You might also want to check your remnant carpet places. You can get astroturf pretty cheap. That} with a pad underneath would be nice.

Put down some dri-core flooring first, and then you can put anything you like on top. Even hardwood!
