I am sure this has been asked before but I looked around and can't find the specific question I need answered and well you guys rock so here it goes.
I have a new house , the garage is on ground level. For the most part the garage looks mint it does have a few hair line cracks and in a few parts the cement became a little bumpy ( like a wavy line ). Which by the way i'm being told is normal until the house settles in properly that is a normal thing. Anyway I wanted to put tiles in the garage but I was worried about a few things.
1) The direct area where the garage door and floor meet I was a bit concerned about it , will the water get through and damage the floor area. Directly out side of the house on the other side of the garage door it is level so the water might accumulate there if it rains alot. I was going to use PEI 5 , inpervious , grade 1 , and frost resistant. Do you guys think there will be any problems there ? My wifes -sisters fiance does contruction work on the side and was like " I'f I were you I would raise the ground level about 6 inches (cement) and towards the end of the cement make a slope for a car and it will stop the water from coming in or put some type of water proof grout or something under the tiles". Now is he wrong and I should just use regular grout and even out the floor and fill in cracks with it as I lay the tiles on them ?
