Garage Flooring Options

I just purchased my first house, and for the first time in my life, I have a nice detached garage that I can't wait to re-finish.

I need a little help in the flooring department. The concrete pad that the garage sits on, while solid, isn't the best. It isn't smooth, and in certain places it can be uneven. I'm trying to make a decision on what type of floor material I can use based on those facts. I'm not really interested in leveling/fixing the pad, but wondering what my options are based on those flaws.

Whatever floor I install, I need it to be able to handle the weight involved when my car is up on stands or using a jack.

Sounds like a coating is out. Look at the posts for garage tiles.

Nahh... Coating aren't out... Tiles are certainly a possibility.

If you want to repair the floor you probably can if you rent a surface grinder to do the prep. Putting a thick coat of a coating down that has good self-leveling properties can hide alot of uneveness/waviness and trowel marks. Anyway, there are alot of options based on what you are describing. A heavily broadcasted flake floor provides a really nice texture that hides alot of that uneveness.
