garage flooring racedec vs. garagedec vs. floor jack

I'm considering all alternatives for a good quality garage floor covering. the space is a generous 28' x 28'

i am very curious how these products hold up with
- jacks (wide wheel 3 ton low pro jack) with pickup truck weight (1500 series so roughly 5k lbs)
- jack stands - much lighter project vehicles. 3k lbs. max - but for 1 yr.+
- kick stands from motorcycles

i understand that welding over these tiles is a NO-NO

if i am installing some equipment - like a hydraulic press - should i lay the feet over the tile and just drill through and bolt to the concrete? or should i cut out the tiles custom and place the press directly onto the concrete?

what are the real differences between the GarageDec and the RaceDec products? i read that racedeck is the premium option.. but what features does it have over the garagedec budget option?

The items you listed will cut/dent the flooring you mentioned. I have an old 392 hemi short block on a stand and the weight of the engine indented the racedeck floor. Six or eight inch wheels on the stand may have prevented the dents. Jackstands without pieces of plywood or something under them will cut the flooring.

IMHO the substructure of the RaceDeck product is better suited to handle the abuse you are going to dish out. While other tiles have supports that are closer together, the RaceDeck brand is much heavier.

There are a couple of exceptions. Like our TrueLock rHD Ribbed, but for your project I am guessing RaceDeck coin or Diamond.

As Justin said, pretty much any large amount of weight over a period of time will dent the floor. I simply have a handful of plywood I just lay down for my jack and stands.

I have Garage Deck & Garage Track floors. For a motorcycle tire changer, a grinder/buffer stand, & a smaller pipe stand table I just drilled through the tiles & mounted them on top of the tiles. No marks, no dents, no problem. When I wasn't using the tire changer I put some plastic plugs in the holes. Looked just fine!

I never had a problem with motorcycle kickstands. I did use a jack stand without a pad when in a hurry one day. The tile dented, but I haven't replaced it & three years later I barely notice the dent. A hydraulic floor jack with large weight would result in dents without pads, but any thin, semi-rigid material will prevent dents.

The only minor issue I've had is the Garage Deck tiles in the South facing garage. I leave the door open all day, & the sun has faded the gloss on the first few rows. The color is still there, but the tiles at the front are less glossy than those at the rear. They all still clean the same (sweep & damp mop with a steam cleaner) & look good, but the front few rows have lost their gloss. I don't know how Race Deck would have performed under the same circumstances.

Being up in Jersey, do you not worry about salt and other winter chems getting under the tiles and ruining your floor?

I am in New Jersey as well and my answer is really no. I did treat my concrete before I put the tiles down but either way they are easy enough to remove once and awhile to clean underneath them.
