While demolishing old house and garage I came across this ADP 30000 btu unit natural gas heater that was only installed 5 years ago. It had roof vent that I could not use as my only option was side vent. I went with special gas category !!! pipe straight out and it works like a charm. I installed a new simple thermostat and very happy with performance.

Nice find for sure.

What's with the large metal plate on the wall and what does the install look like from the outside? Any particular reason you just didn't go with the standard "through the wall" thimble?

The large metal plate is a tankless water heater all in one thimble that my sewer plumbing supply house suggested to use. I will take a pic from out side and post in a bit. This heater has blower on vent pipe and they suggested to try this setup as nice easy clean install.

Is that a 3 or 4 inch through the wall pipe?
Double wall or single wall pipe?

Looks nice, will get me heat done soon in my shop.

4 inch single wall Special gas category 111 pipe. If you google "special gas vent" you can find it. Stainless and expensive but worth every dollar. A 60 inch piece is about 85.00. It has a seal and clamp connection as well. This is required on horizontal wall connection but vertical can use type b double wall and is lower in cost
