When it rains the water runs off the front of my garage where the garage roof meet the house and down the house wall. See the photos for detail. You can't see In The photo there is a roof that prevents the water from running off into the gutter system on the backside of the garage.

Is there a better option than just install a small gutter and down spout along the house wall?

That design with the garage roof plane draining right against the body of the house is a WTF in general, let alone in snow country! Can't see the actual roof line, but even if there's a pitch to the front of some sort (cricket, perpendicular roofline with valley, etc.) I don't see any step flashing at the main house wall. It's possible the siding comes down so far, we can't see any of it from this angle though.

A picture of the roof/roofline(s) would be helpful, as maybe I'm missing something. With what you're showing, this looks like more than just a short gutter & downspout project.

Cricket and kickout flashing at the bottom is the only (good) way I can recommend... The cricket can be built wide enough at the bottom to have (just throwing out a dimension) 12" of gutter to collect the massive rainfall channeled to that point.

Hard to provide advice. Need pictures from above showing exactly what's going on up there. From the angle shown- it's a bad, bad, bad situation.

I agree with what everyone said here. I'm certainly not a contractor. Is it new construction? It looks like a new house? It's just too weird for words though!
It looks like you had enough land for a breezeway from house to garage sort of like this.1572211948501-1799318555.jpg

I've always loved breezeways... Idk why really.

Hope they put 2-3' of flashing going up the wall and up the garage roof line!

While it would look odd, I suppose you could mount a short piece of gutter to the house to catch the runoff.

I'd see another architect or engineer to find a work around on that one. If it isn't dealt with there are expensive repairs in the future I think. There are probably trusses that need to be modified as well as how they are supported. For a gutter to work it has to be lower than the roof and it doesn't look like you have room for that based on the photo you provided. Did you add an addition next to the garage, and that created this situation?

Before you hire an architect or engineer on your dime, go down to your city/county building department and talk to the plan checker who approved the plans for your house. Look at the plans they have on file and find out the name of the architect or engineer who stamped the plans, then talk to the head of the building department to find out what your options are at this point.

Pardon my bad sketch... but this is how they need to be building the roof..

Walls will be rotting very soon. That us a horrible design.

As far as rain water and upper roof snow melt, one of those roof mounted diverters you see in “urban” areas instead of gutters may be in order. But once it starts snowing, your still going to have water to contend with.

Did I mention that is a terrible design?

Would like to see more pictures of the roof tie in to the house !

From Your pictures it sure looks like problems.

Noticed the drive does not go the width of the doors is this a new addition ?

good observation. I'll bet there was about a 4' to 5' distance between the old garage and house, or a carport and house. Maybe the garage was behind the house and it was brought forward. Regardless there are some issues here that have to be resolved. The OP has not returned to this thread since the original post.

I saw that happen a long time ago, when I was a newlywed & not yet a home owner. Someone in the neighborhood I was living added a garage to an existing house just like that. I wondered how that worked, & where the water would go.
Approx 2 years later, they had the siding back off & were framing a cricket like lakeroadster pictured.

Lakeroadster had the best solution to what's there. So many questions though, hoping OP would reply.
