Decided to overhaul my garage gym and I'm starting with a homemade power rack/squat rack.
Using 11 gauge 3X3 square tubing. Drilled 3/16 pilot holes then used a1" step drill bit from lenox. Started with a hand drill but the batteries weren't lasting long enough so I figured I'd use the makita mixing drill and surprisingly, it worked really well.
Cut the cross braces, pull-up bar, plate holders to length and welded the end plates to them. It's A lot of work but to be honest it's actually quite satisfying working with metal, especially the welding part.
