Garage Heater woes

I have had a Cozy wall furnace in my garage now for 7 years and has been used on demand, until recently, I have decided to keep the garage at a steady 60 degrees.

The problem I have is that the furnace stopped working via the Cozy thermostat that I was using. The furnace would come on via 'hot wiring', so I ordered another brand new Cozy brand thermostat. The same issue with the new one, but I noticed by accident that it would fire the furnace , if I touched the red terminal with a magnetic screwdriver.

So I can trigger the furnace, but cannot use the thermostat to maintain temperature. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

I assume there are white/red wires - what happens when you short those wires at or near the thermostat?

Yes, Red and White wires. It will fire when I short those wires.

It is a millivolt system. The red wire on the thermostat.
