I need help on deciding where to put my 30x30 garage with 15' peak roof and 9-10' high garage door that's 20' wide in my backyard. I was hoping that lean on someone with CAD drawing capabilities to see where the smart place to build my garage. City code says I have to have a 20' easement front side and rear of building. I got pictures of my backyard with measurements.
Backyard is 80' wide and 63' deep starting at my concrete going towards my brick wall. In the future the left over yard I'm planning to put a pool in. I can pay someone for their services if you take PayPal.

I would start this the other way around...map out where you want the pool - it will need certain setbacks and decking and possibly a source of electricity. The wife may want a certain sun/shade position or lanai as well.

30x30 and a 20' setback makes it a 50 x 50 space...and you may not have room to do this, as described

Then do the same with any underground utilities or septic or piping, as you will need to leave it and an open area around it, in case of an issue. Now add in a path to get to the garage, especially if it will be a daily event to get to the garage, and any concrete sweeps or existing obstacles to take in to account.

Now factor in the construction...you will likely need access to all 4 sides (construction type was not defined) and some place to stockpile gravel, soil, supplies, trusses, crane access and so on.

Google earth may give you more aspect to see about this, but at this point, any CAD work would be premature, IMHO.

Welp...site prep looks relatively straightforward!

;)

Just walk out back with a 100ft tape measure and stick- mark it off.

I'd say the side 20ft easement will be a place to park something...and the rear 20 ft will be dead storage area for ****. Could also plan on having your pool equpippment back there, out of sight AND contained for sound reduction and protect from sun and weather..

You might also have the side of the garage with a gazebo roof that ties into the house roof- sit there and look over to the pool?

I'm a big paper and pencil fan... Make a drawing of the lot, with the house on it. take that to Kinkos and have them make 10 copes. Now you can screw around with ideas on the copies of different layouts. Instead of a PDF you have to look at on a computer screen, you have paper you can lay on a table and discuss. Or on the hood of the pickup truck.

GL!

;)

My breaker box is on the right side of my house when facing my house. So I can run the power to the shop along my patio to my brick wall and up to the shop.

Love an Arizona backyard. When I lived in AZ (Camp Verde) mine (2/3 acre) looked something like that, but already had a 20 x 40 outbuilding (garage/shop). Nice blank canvas. Best wishes for success with your projects.

Your frontal picture seems to drive the answer. You want it tucked into the back left corner so you can run the driveway up that side access right back to the garage / shop.
