Floor safes are great. We have installed a ton of them over the years.

Here's one a buddy of mine uses in his restaurant. It's normally full of shredded paper on top.

I've hidden these things in everything from floors to garbage cans to display tables in the center of a store.

Another friend that runs a used car dealership hides his cash under the insulation in his attic. I don't know how much he has up there but I've seen him go in the house and bring out a paper sack full more than once to go buy cars with.

Another good place is behind the toe kick under base cabinets. Just a bunch of wasted space hidden by a board. Great for storing anything that fits. I had never thought about that one until we were remodeling a house and found a pistol, some old pics and a few hundred bucks stored under the vanity in the bathroom.

I don't have to worry about it though. I don't have anything expensive enough to hide.

I've had mice in one house, and raccoons in another. Worth thinking about!

i used to use the fake ajax can, i'd put my stray cash in it. it was a great hiding place until someone decided to clean the bathroom. saw that it was empty and in the trash it went, i have a locked strong box now. i don'r even want to know how much cash went to the trash that day.

I MIGHT hide some extra cash in an old steel Band-Aid box in a drawer of my tool box. Maybe... Who doesn't need a Band-Aid box in their toolbox?

Years ago, the grocery store in my hometown kept their cash drawers for the next morning in the walk-in cooler overnight. Assuming the cooler was locked. Also protected from fire. The first customers in the morning got their change in, well, cold cash! :)

The gap between wall cabinets works pretty well to hide things such as $$$ or documents. Also, false easily removed toe-kicks on base cabinets.

I've got an STP "safe" can that I use for such.

My wife uses her tampon box, LOL.

Seeing a Quaker State can in my shop would draw suspicion to anyone who knows me even remotely.

Has anyone else thought that now these ideas are out in the open, they're not such good ideas anymore?

Umm, that's why I haven't shown any pics or mentioned where I actually hide my stuff. What I posted originally more of a hidden storage space, not a hiding spot. ;)

Is the trashcan anchored down of just full of concrete ?

We installed concrete anchors in the floor, bolted a plate that was welded to the bottom of the safe to the anchors and then filled the trash can with concrete. It's pretty well permanently attached to the floor.

On most regular floor safes the base is larger than the rest of the safe so it creates an anchor point that extends beyond the sides of the safe for the concrete to hold on to. We have also welded larger plates on the sides of floor safes to create even larger anchor points.
