Garage/industrial mudroom

I have a 52 inch wide x 9 feet tall wall space next to our door into the house from the garage. We always go in through there and need an idea for bench/shoe storage like a typical mudroom. But don't want the typical white wood/bench etc...

Any ideas on how designs for something that would be more garage/industrial looking but function the same?

How about some small wall cabinets turned into the bench cabinets and a butcher block style top/seat ?

If you can't cabinets short enough, how about making some from sheet metal or cutting down some another style of metal office cabinet.
