My house has the outside garage wall covered in sheetrock with no insulation, and since I want to heat it, whats the cheapest solution to inslate? I've got more time than money. I hate to pull off the rock if I don't have to.

I have seen (on tv) where you can cut holes in the wall and blow it in, but I think that would probably end up costing more than just tearing the sheetrock down. I would think the blown in insulation would also settle and end up not working as well as batts.

Do it right, do it once. Take down drywall, insulate with batts or foam and redo drywall.

***** but no easy way out.

Leave the drywall where it is, and use dense pack cellulose.
You drill two holes in the board, one on top, one lower down. You need a stronger machine than the free ones you get, has to put out at least 3 psi.
A dense pack wall will also control air leaks, while having equal R-value of fiberglass.

But you'll never know if the cellulose filled the cavity. Drywall, especially the typical garage firecode job, is cheap and easy to replace. Tear it down.

I pulled my drywall down, insulated and redid the drywall. Also gave me the opportunity to improve outlets, wiring, etc. It's the way to go. Also, you may have lateral blocking that prevents the loose fill from filling the cavities.
