What's the white A/C looking thing between the doors in the soffit above the window?
It looks like the inside part of a mini-split heat pump. The outside part looks like a very small conventional condenser unit. The wiring and "plumbing" are identical with a standard heat pump.

Nice, keep us updated on the finished project. It looks like the whole structure, insulation and drywall took about 2 months. Is that right or were there delays on the project. I'm thinking on converting my 1 car into a 2 car garage. I'm curious on the time frame you were given and the actual time it took to get all the drywalling done.

Not certain I understand what you mean by whole structure.

The insulation was done in one day. The drywall took one day to hang and then the guys came back a few times over the next few days to do the mud, sanding and more mud.

Once all legal impediments to construction were resolved I guess I would say they broke ground in May of 2007, that's when the geotek testing started.

They worked on the footing and stem wall in June. They could not pour the concrete for the slab until the engineer said it was ok. It did not pass I think it was called a nuclear density test so we had to do wait about a month.

Yes there have been all kinds of delays but most were related to working on other projects at the house. The garage is part of huge exterior renovation project which also included a downstairs master bedroom suite. For instance I only got around to painting recently because my wife instructed me that we needed to get the master bedroom suite done first and the garage would have to wait.

Also I'm doing a most of the fininsh work like tile, plumbing, interior painting, trim, and flooring myself so it obviously takes much longer since I'm basically doing it myself.

Utility sink install just about done. I used 12 x12 porcelian tiles, did not use any bullnosed tile, but bullnosed what need to be so I'd have less grout joints. I used black grout and and black tile grout caulk so I should not have much trouble keeping it clean.

The black grout and especially the black caulk were a real pain to work with.
