Garage Journal Friend Request

I've gotten a few friend requests from members here and wonder why. What is being a "friend" here mean. Does it give any privileges, notices when they post, Once a friend request is accepted does it require a next step? Or is this like the facebook kids who have 8000 friends?

So help this old retired guy out and explain what and why of being a friend here...

I have a few on my list, just makes it easy to see when they were last online etc...

The people I have requested to be friends are the people whom I respect and value the info or opinions that they have posted.

Larry: if you know that member that gave you a friend request just click on it and accept if you want to and if you don't want to just PM him and let him or her know why (or say nothing).

i have a few friends on here that i haven't asked to be friends with for one reason or another and several that have asked and i happily accepted their invite. i also accepted members friendship requests i didn't know that well that asked.

there are many levels of friends so to speak and i'm sure you have a ton of them in the real world or maybe you are like me where there is family and a ton of acquaintances and then we have GJ when we have a few minutes.

i'd consider you a friend if you asked for friendship on GJ or just wanted to meet for some lunch if we were in each other's area, but not sure you feel the same about me. in any case i'm sending you a FRIEND REQUEST after i finish this post if i can remember how to.

just saw your post. i'm sure i've seen you post pictures so if you have one in your computer you would like as an Avatar here's what you do. go in to your profile, click on Avatar, download a picture, save and you have an Avatar. good luck and pm or email me to ask questions if you still need some help.

ALL: for those that don't have any friends it's not a contest and just learn about other members as time passes and whether you have them listed on the profile or in your head it doesn't matter. the GJ family is a good group and like any family there are some that play well with others and some that don't so find out who you play well with.

Larry it really means nothing, it some times help you locate them by clicking on their avatar in your friends list.

On Tapatalk there's a setting that I think is default, where if you quote someone you automatically follow them. I get some followers to that seem to come and go, I don't usually recognize the names and they tend to have very few posts.

While everybody can think it means whatever or just nothing, I'd say it means you have earned, to a degree, some respect from a fellow member.

If you were to send a friend request, it's pretty sensible to say that you like and respect what another member has to say. Probably enough that if you ever got the chance to meet that said member, you might grab lunch together or offer a cold one to.
