This place rocks, along with jalopy and jockey journal.

Im not looking to raise any hairs but really like the creativity and wealth of knowledge I can leech from at these forums and others.

I am looking for a forum like here/ish for homes, remodels etc.

I will be making my first home purchase soon, the best option for me seems to be a fixer-upper and I know a place similar to this will come in very handy.

So where else is there? I know I can pick up a book but we all know there are greatly creative and resourceful people here, thats why I am asking here.

If this crosses boundaries of the forum, no harm meant and please simply remove.

Thanks!

I'd beware of fixer-uppers. Most of the time they are actually overpriced and sit on the market trying to seduce novice buyers with their low price. The problem is that the discount often doesn't actually account for the cost of all of the repair/remodeling work.

Second problem is that for truly under-priced properties you are competing with flippers. Flippers can quickly scoop-up a distressed sale using hard-money lender or cash. It's hard to get those deals if you are going with traditional inspection/financing/closing.
