Title is a little boring, but with trying to clean up our new configuration as I had a grand plan to actually label "stuff"

The first one was a BrotherPT-P700 - PC and Mac compatible! - Hooray ..... Not So Fast! They are only supported up to W8! Period ...... No where in the product documentation does is say that! AND Amazon will not provide a refund!
On to the Second Option - Dyno 550 Turbo series. This series is just a ****** graphical update to the previous 4XX series. Although you can DL the SW and it will work after serval attempts to use it, but basically useless!

So it looks like it off to Office Max and see what they recement, and what they actually use in the store. I was hoping to not doing this as I have arthritis in my hand and find difficult to use ...

S I was wondering what fellow members are using to "Label" their stuff around the home stead

Brother P-touch cube has lots of tape options. The iron on cloth works well on fabric bags. For tool boxes I use magnetic sign or white board material and a paint marker. I cut the sheet to fit my needs with a paper cutter. I really like a black sheet with a white paint marker.

Epson LW-300 is what I've been using for years. All the drawers in my garage are labeled as to the contents...including my tool chest. I also 3D printed custom socket holders and used the Epson to make labels for those. Same for my Allen wrench holder.
For the little drawer units sitting on the bench for small parts I just used small Avery labels.
Printing labels for everything might seem like overkill to most people, but since my penmanship ***** it's a really good idea...

I have a ten year old Brother P-touch 2700 and it is still supported. You have to find the web page for the specific product if it has been discontinued and download the drivers there. You can’t go to the main download page. If you don’t mind spending a bit more get the Brother PT-E510 as that one also prints heat shrink cable tubing labels so you can label wires on your projects.

Dymo 500 series has chips in the label rolls so you are forced to use OEM labels . they sell it as a convenience because the software recognizes the label type in the machine. this is like buying a plain paper printer where you have to buy yhe paper from the printer manufacturer.
I have a plethora of 400 series printers that will hopefully last my lifetime .
My Brother PT 2430PC printer has worked from probably windows 7 till currently on 11 without a flaw

What on EARTH inspires ANYONE to make ANY device with an ABCDE keyboard? That would drive me bonkers in ten seconds. In a world where absolutely everyone texts on a regular basis using on-screen QWERTY keyboards, this seems particularly clueless. Maybe it's because many of these devices are very old designs.

It looks like some Dymo and Brady devices are ABCDE and some are QWERTY, so watch it I guess. Brother devices all seem to be QWERTY.

I really like the idea of the Bluetooth connected printers, but you're then depending on whoever is maintaining a crappy phone app to keep it updated, secure and not too invasive. So far, no one has warranted that level of long-term trust.

Another issue is the cost of the tape cartridges; Brother devices seem to work well with non-OEM cartridges, but the others sometimes are restricted. I'd also prefer less plastic waste; I don't know if anyone has figured out how to reload the cartridges.

No idea man. I never even thought about it when I bought it. I just wanted a lower priced label maker when I ordered it. It works fine , not an issue and been using some Amazon sourced "DYMO" label cartridges. Keyboard is freaking annoying though. . . enough that I want to get a different label maker.

Pair of old brother label makers, one larger that can do 1" labels and one smaller. Generic labels from online, works great

The Brother unit I have had since maybe the late 70's? has a keyboard that isn't easy - to further confuse me - sorta a keyboard layout but not really ..

Query... had to type it out, because my mind knows where the keys are, but I couldn't tell you exactly what is where from memory. Been typing my whole life, so it is second nature to me. My wife can't understand how I can type and talk to her at the same time.

I have that one as well due a recommendation from @PelicanPines I love the thing and I've used it all over my shop. It changed labeling from a PITA to something that is nice to do with good results.

It'd be a bit nicer with a Query keyboard, but other than that I've got no complaints. It'll even print on heat shrink tubing which is awesome.

Yep. I'd like a QWERTY keyboard as well, but it's not like I'm typing paragraphs on the thing. It does the job just fine as-is, IMO.
