I am in the planning stages for a 36x54x12 garage/shop. The attached picture shows the layout I am considering. The 2 10x10 doors on the "East" of the picture will be the cars used most often. The 16x10 on the "North" will be used about once a week. I may want a lift in the future and was considering one in that bay. I plan to insulate and cover the walls. Most likely I will cover the walls with metal. Walk doors and windows may move slightly. I am having a local builder put up the shell and I will do most of the remaining work myself.

Does anyone have any suggestions or critiques of my layout? The East doors are my main concern. For looks I think centering the doors in the gable end would be best, but I feel like I am losing space between the cars and on each side. Any thoughts?

Thanks, George

The layout looks okay. Try to keep at least 4' between the north wall and the first garage door. That leaves room for a bench or storage AND opening car doors.
Space the other door so you can open the car doors without banging the other vehicle.
Having the extra space along the south wall will be good. Any yard equipment going in here?
If you plan on a hoist put the hoist post right in between the two parked cars so you have room to walk around it on all sides.
