Garage Lift, Staggered Parking underneath

I have a unique situation.

I have a garage that is real deep but narrow. It's currently deep enough to put 2 cars inline, with plenty of extra space. I'm thinking of doing some major renovation work, which will make it impossible to keep these two cars parked in line. I thought about the possibility of having a lift, and parking one car below the other, but my garage isn't tall enough to do that, and there's no way to go upwards (the garage is the 1st floor of a 3 story residence).

However, I'm thinking if I put one car on the lift, lift it high enough to clear the hood of the other car there should be enough room to fit. Have I not thought it through properly? I have a total of 7'10" to the ceiling, and I would not have to worry about garage door/garage door opener clearance.

Would love to hear comments and thoughts on what I'm thinking of doing. This board is INSPIRING!

Measure everything 12 times before you make a purchase. One thing I never considered when I bought my lift was the height of lift you need to get above the highest stop you need to engage the locks. So if you think you can get by with say 3'-0" of clearance under the lift you need to keep in mind you'll need to be able to get the bottom of the lift up to say 3'-3" to actually use the 3'-0" position. And also keep in mind the thickness of the cross members when you do your math. I suppose this wouldn't apply if you buy a lift that does not use the mechanical lock style stops, however.

How often do you plan to drive the car on the lift? I personally can't see using my lift regularly for a car I drive all the time. It takes a bit of time to pull out the ramps, pull off the stops, etc and so on. Use it every day? Not my lift...
