Garage Lift

So now I am toying with the idea of installing a lift in my garage. My ceiling height is 126 inches from floor to ceiling. I would like to go with a 7 K unit but from what I have read 6K will lift a full size F150. Here are a couple that have my interest.
Benpak LR60P Low Rise
DannMar SX6XL Mid Rise
MaxJax 2 post.
So if anyone has any ideas feel free to chime in.Getting to old to roll around on my back. I do not mind if I am only able to get around on a portable roll around stool.,,.Thanks, Ken

I would suggest you just forget all those little lifts and just get a normal full size baseplate 7k or 8k lift. It will be more stable with an F150 on it and you have plenty of ceiling height for it. You will be able to get an F150 at least 4 feet up plenty good for your rolling stool.

The price is comparable.

agreed, never know what other vehicle your going to want to throw on there in the future.

Yes I have thought about the full size lift however ,, I may be moving to another location in the not so distant future.I also do not know how deep the concrete floor is. I may drill a whole tomorrow to find out.Thanks for the replies, Ken

What about a 4 post lift, then? It would be much more versatile for the situation:
- You can install it for a wide range of ceilings now, and in the future
- Some models don't need to be bolted down
- They are lighter and easier to move
- Slab thickness is not critical

A MaxJax has the capacity to lift a F150, however the arms aren't long enough to reach the lift points.
I had my MaxJax installed for my '91 GMC pick up, the fit was fine.
Sold the GMC 3 years ago and grabbed an F150.
The columns were too far apart for the arms to reach the lift points. Even moving them closer, so close that they touched the running boards, wasn't enough.

Doing some internet digging for a remedy, I found that Danmar had a full size lift with longer arms, that had the same carriage dimensions as the MaxJax carriage....

Here are my thought on it: go with the highest weight rating you can afford, I second the 'you never know what will eventually get put on it...' line of thought. Also, think real hard about a 4-post. Here is a video I made comparing and contrasting my two-post with a 4-post.

R, I read your post and watched the video.I learned some.However with my limited budget and space I am looking at something like a Ranger or BenPak something that I can maneuver beneath the vehicle, and be done with it.
Granted a 2 post would be great however with space being a prime factor along with my budget.
Anyway all I want is to raise the car/truck off the ground and be able to roll around on my stool, do the oil change, rotate tires,brakes ext.I plan to keep on searching. I will find the ideal lift. Thanks for the replies, Ken
