Garage lighting bulbs

I need to replace the six bulbs in my detached finished garage. It's 22×26 feet with 10 foot ceilings. The ceiling is white, but there is shelving used as storage around two sides, sucking up much of the reflected light.

The fixtures are standard round porcelain fixtures that are wired to a single switch. Currently I have failing compact florescents.

What 6 led light bulbs would you buy?

Replace the porcelain fixtures with adapter plates that hold a duplex outlet. Install LED 4' shop light. They plug in and can be daisy chained. They also usually come with pull chain on/off switches.

I did this on my garage. Because I only had 2 fixtures and I wanted one located off to the side, I cut the cord and splices in an extra 6' of lamp cord. If you are going to do this be careful to maintain the polarity.

Can you post a link?
This may be a bigger project for later, but I need some replacement bulbs now.

I would put up 4' LED fixtures
That’s what I did in my garage, but if the OP wants a simpler solution and doesn’t need the nice even lighting the 4 foot fixtures provide, he can just order this 6 pack of bulbs, spend 5 minutes screwing them in, and end up with a lot more light that those terrible old CFL’s ever provided.

Converting to plugs for the shop lights would require providing GFCI protection if code compliance is required. I did but realize that it adds to the workload and expense.

I won't tell if you don't !

You could replace the switch box with a double box. Rr-install the switch and add a GFCI to the circuit

To answer the question three sets of this.

I use those (actually, the ones you can buy in WalMart, Costco, Sams, Home Depot, etc....) and love them. Very bright and I can direct them.

I also like putting in ceiling outlets and daisy chaining the LED shop lights. All of the above is a good solution. But the fastest easy way to bright light in a garage is those garage LED light systems. Just screw them in light a bulb and enjoy the sunlight.

I’m really happy with these.
The “shade” screws in to the porcelain fixture and then a 100w LED bulb screws in to that.

I found the shade thing online and the bulbs are from Costco.

I used the ones like the Amazon link above in my garage but the 200W equivalent as a "temporary" solution after gettgin my garage built. Like them so much I have not upgraded yet. going on year 3, have had to replace one of the 9 so far.

I have the star shaped ones that I use for work lights and they are good also. Picked up at Lowes I believe.

Something along these lines, I think you can direct the light, as the wings are movable

very similar to the Amazon link above.

I have 4 of these. Pros: cheap, easy to install, bright. Cons: Harsh, glare, blinding if you look up. In the right circumstances, they are useful. If you want good light to work under, there are much better options. I will replace mine with strip lights after I paint the ceiling etc.
