I'm preparing to install florescent lights in my garage. Below is a diagram of my garage and planned lighting layout. I haven't picked a fixture/ballast yet but I do know that I want a cold start ballast. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated on lighting layout and which fixture to use.

What I did was put switched receptacles in the ceiling, and used corded 4' fixtures. As my use of the space evolved I ended up moving some fixtures this way and that to fit my needs. As it is now the only time a car is in the "garage" is when I am working on it in the winter or major job. It is now a "shop.

When you pull a car into the garage at night, those lights running side to side can be glarey. I would recommend running them front to back so that you aren't looking at them when you pull in. Now, you might have something else that you are using the garage for that would make it so that they are better side to side. If so, carry on....
