My dad has a bunch of these porcelain shades lying around. He gave me two of them to put outside of my garage. Before he got them someone had already painted them from white to green on the outside and did an awful job of it. I decided instead of stripping them and starting from scratch I'd just go ahead and paint them with an enamel paint, since they're outside lights anyway. All of the tube bending, wiring, painting and installation was done by yours truly.

Hope y'all enjoy.

Sweet. Can't beat the price. They look great over the doors. Should be able to give you plenty of light on late night repairs. What size bulbs do you have in them?

Those look retro-ly cool. Are they going to be able to stand up to a hurricane gale? Remember the Tacoma-Narrows bridge?

Nice. Throws a cool light on the doors. Now what you need to to is retro-ize the garage to match with some barn planking and old gas station stuff.

They look really good.

How did you weatherproof it?

Are there any kids in the vicinity who might be able to jump up and hang from them?

Weather seal gaskets, and I put a bead of silicone around the flange.
A kid would need to be 10 ft tall to reach these lights, the lights are about 12 ft in the air.

I love old porcelain lights. I have one up and another that will go up, someday. But, mine came green and it's original. Most that I have seen are green outer, white inside (or bottom side).
