So I have a 24' x 30' basement garage with concrete ceiling and I am finishing the walls out. I am looking at installing track lighting and wondering what everyone thinks about the 3000 versus the 4000 lumens? I am thinking 4000 but don't want crazy white light and I know 5000 would do that but afraid 3000 will be to soft. What is everyone else using....

I think your talking about color temperature, that's measured in kelvins. Lumens is how much light something is putting out. Personally I like warm lights in the 3000k range. I find the 4000k and especially the 5000k to look harsh. A lot of other people like the 4000k and even 5000k though. It's really a matter of personal preference. 3000k is going to be similar to a halogen light. 4000k is what is used in a lot of fluorescent lights. Cars with HiD headlights are usually in the 5000k-6000k range.

If fluorescent are 4000 then I will most likely get 3000... I have 5000 in my barn but I like to be bright when working.

You can get flourescent in lots of color temperatures, but 4100k is the most common.

It's all personal preference.

I like 4,000 at the max. For me, bright white is just too harsh for my eyes when you get above 80 ft/candles.

I just converted my shop from T8 to 5000k LED and love it.
How'd you do it? Type A,B, or C replacements? Or retrofit? And at what cost? Thinking about it myself. Type B replacements seems to be the most cost-effective for me.

I've replaced nearly all my incandescent with LED and have noticed a substantial drop in my electric bill.
