Garage lights in. Finally

Thanks to this board, I did the calculation for fluorescent wattage per square foot and I found out that these 20" sqaure ones from Home Depot came in pretty close. Not only that they were slightly different than the usual garage lights and were cheaper too. I managed to get thirteen of them up today.

The nice thing about these compared to my previous garage is the lack of humming. I will add some task lighting when I get my workbench set up.

I think that is the first time I have seen crown molding in a garage before.

Did the lighting analysis control for the covers over the lights? Or did you just use the raw numbers supplied with the bulbs? Or did you use a correction factor?

Good question and I don't have the answers because I just searched the forum for lumens and came upon a post that said .75 fluorescents watts per square foot. It didn't mention details.

I am happy with the lighting to a point, as I still can't "see" inside a vehicle real well, but the only way to solve that is to put some wall mounted recessed lights in and frankly that's a little too much for me.

I can say that last night, after a long day I was able to turn the heat on, have the tv on and clean up the Navigator after it was pretty much covered in mud. I may put in a exhaust fan though to control humidity but I know that won't be so much of a problem once the floor is painted.
