Here is my first mock up of a leaf blower made from a furnace blower motor. Any suggestions on improvements are appreciated. The first 1:36 is me using the blower. Then looking at the unit. One thing I thought of doing is putting the blower on a swivel. Thanks for looking.

A cone reducer from the original exhaust opening(longer) would likely be more efficient. Its weak at this point.

Yes. LONG Rectangular cone would have reduced losses. Lots of the air being wasted here.

Very clever and quiet. Great idea.

Thats a good idea. I agree with the other though, neck down the output. Also, put a screen or some expanded metal mesh over the air intake to avoid sucking debris in there and possibly damaging the blower.

I've see quite a few furnace blowers where the motor mounts on top and drives the blower via a belt, I wonder if they are durable enough to mount a small horizontal shaft gas motor on top. It would be louder but would eliminate the need to drag an extension cord around. Even a small engine should be plenty of power since they are typically driven by 1/3-1/2hp electric motors.

Try blocking off part of the air inlet, use a piece of metal and slowly slide it over the inlet, you should hear the blower speed increase as the static pressure changes

You don't have to point it directly at the leaves. If you have it **** air in from the outside and create positive pressure in the garage. Then air pressure will push the leaves away along the entire opening. I'm looking for one I can use that way. My setup that is pulling the air out is pulling **** and dust in from anyplace it can find.

I have the little Stanley air mover I use around the house. It's nice but every time I look at it i have air moving insecurities.
