Garage Makeover---Advice Appreciated

I recently discovered Garage Journal while researching plans to remodel my existing garage. I probably have read over 100 threads to date and appreciate all the good ideas.

First the space:
-approx 23'D by 22'W
-located in WY
-used to house toys, a car and tools
-existing space has some unknown type of peeling paint on floor and otherwise is bare, a clean slate

Looking for input mainly on how to store/hang various items. Would love to know what you have used that works.

Floors--initially was leaning towards epoxy but now thinking of Racedeck tiles. Do not mean to start another debate here. Have read all, I think, related recent threads in flooring section. Just FYI

Kayaks--have 4 kayaks from 10' to 16 ' in length. Any good solutions for storing? Also have related paddles, helmets, etc

Bikes--5 adult bikes--Same question?

Ladders--3 stepladders (6'-12') and 1 extension (22'). Prefer OH solution if practical.

Lawn Tools--normal assortment of rakes, ladders, etc

Shop Tools--not extensive, just typical collection of hand tools

Curious what others have found to be best storage solutions for these specific type of items. Also would like impressions of overall systems such as garageworks, monkey bars, etc

I realize this is a very general thread from a newbie who has contributed nothing to date. Would appreciate any overall advice.

Plan to post pictures as project progresses.

Thanks in advance

If you haven't spent the requisite 6-8 hours in the Garage Gallery subforum, then you've not taken full advantage of this site......just do it!

(love my Racedeck, btw....)

I spent the better part of 2 evenings in the gallery. Seems like no limit to useful ideas.
Thanks for thoughts

Good thing you said "car",not the plural...was thinking that's way too much and still get two cars. lol
For that diversity of stuff maybe a custom mobile rack(s) for some of it in case you get another car down the road?

For yaks, I have these on one of the walls. Great site for storage of yaks, canoes and sup's. I have only two yaks (a 12' and 10'). I got them up high so that I can store my snowmobiles underneath during the winter. During the summer, I have a quads and lawnmower underneath them.

Here's my 'yak mount. I don't have any pics since I also put the windsurfer on the same mount next to the kayak. Because I put three xbars on my truck for the yakima roof rack, I had a couple of leftover base pads. I put those on the wall to hang the upper connection of the bars on when not in use. It worked so well that I ordered another pair so I could hang the third bar later. The paddles now also reside on fork hooks between the roof bars on that same wall.

it all depends on how much money you want to spend on your "makeover"

A: buy everything new from a B&M store, or off the 'net..

B: dumpster dive, trash pick, or repurpose...

i picked option B for my garage.
