This originally started just trying to clean it up so I can get organized. But after seeing NIZMOZ makeover and moving a dozen cans of paint and misc. hardware I decided to give it a shot. I did almost all of it on Sat. and with the exception of about 100 bucks in drywall I managed to have everything else floating around in the garage. Im starting with the 2 walls drywall and paint once there all done my bench wall is next was gonna redo the pegboard maybe still undecided. So any ideas are welcome. I had some drywall up but finished the one wall did the entireback wall I cut off the bottom of the walls and put in a baseboard painted black (scrap wood I had on hand).

A couple more with the baseboard down. I found a guy who has cabinet grade plywood half sheets 6 bucks a piece (thank you craigslist) so Im gonna build some new cabinets to hang on the wall to the left. Hopefully get the plywood Weds. or Thurs. shouldn't take more than 2 days to get the shells build and face frames so hopefully have them hung by Sat. night. Ive seen some people ask about building your own Ill try and take some pics during the process. Im not a cabinet maker but always built my own and everybody seems to like them so hopefully it will be useful to others.

Project looks great! Any excuse to remodel, clean up, organize or improve a garage is a good excuse. I'm assuming since you started with drywall install, that the garage was originally bare studs? This really is a great improvement. I'm interested in your cabinets that you plan to build. So, yes, please post pix!

Good Luck with your project!

Ok slow going at this point but hey progress is progress right. And the best part is the pile in the middle of the garage keeps getting smaller. Plywood will be available on Thurs. so should be able to post some build pics on Fri.

Nice work man. Neat idea to use the wood for the red stripe as it saves the trouble I had to go through after wards of touching up the colors where the paint leaked through on the white and gray.

We also had Peg board, but decided to get rid of it for Slate Wall. I haven't had time to get any ordered yet, but that is part of our finishing touches. I am leaving for Nashville in 1 week so that will have to wait. :)

Looks great! That baseboard trim idea is a good one and I really like your color scheme. I also would like to see pics of your cabinet builds. Keep us posted.

Nice work....keep it up....

One of the things you will notice is how much easier it is to keep clean....seems that once you go through all that work...your more inclined to keep things organized and in their place.....and you end up just feeling a whole lot better....

I used solid wood for the baseboard painted black. Living in the North east there always snow in the winter and I worried about water on the floor getting soaked up in the drywall. I also used 3/4 inch mdf for the stripe for a couple of reasons. I always seem to be leaning sheet goods and such against the wall I am hoping this will prevent damage as well as provide a nice place to nail anything I need to hang. The best part is except for the drywall, some screws and red paint I had everything else so far floating around the garage so its been a remodel on the cheap. I am even thinking of making my own slatwall as I see they sell router bits for it. Boy DDawg I hope your right about easier to keep clean its been fun but alot of work to get it just to this point so I hope I can be disciplined enough to keep it clean when IM finished.
