After yesterdays post I have fixed everything up and gotten the details straightened out. I have 8 weeks to transform my fathers garage into a "New York Yankees" themed garage.

Before Pictures:

p1010443e.jpg

p1010444ut.jpg

p1010445pd.jpg

p1010449ad.jpg

The Plan:

Paint

-Repaint all the walls into a "pinstripe" scheme with 3 feet of blue, 2 inches of black above that, then white above that.
-Repaint all the benches

Organization

-I want to re-organize the tools, but not move them and replace the nails into the wall with a peg board.
-I want to remove all the paint cans full of screws and replace them with Tupperware containers with labels.

Floors

I am not sure what I want to do with the floor. I am looking for a cheap, but good epoxy set, or a cheap set of plastic tiles.

Walls

I want to put diamond plating behind one of the work benches.
I want to put a big New York Yankees decal up on the wall.
I want to replace all the light switches with New York Yankee ones.

I will be updating this thread and posting my progress below. If you have any suggestions please post them below.

Day 1 - Week 1

Today I went out an bought 8 small and 6 big containers to replace all the paint buckets that are currently holding screws. I started and so far it looks quite nice. Tomorrow I am hoping to finish. I will have to remove the containers in the end to re-paint the shelf. I think I am going to keep that shelf white.

Day 2, Week 1

I started off by printing out labels for all of the bins. I then transferred most of the screws that were in paint cans into the new containers. I then removed all of the containers off the shelf to get ready for paint. This is a picture of the containers on the unpainted shelf. I am planning on painting the shelves a blue, and the wall behind them white.

Then after all the shelves were clear I vacuumed them and blew them off with the air hose. Went out and bought a quart of "Yankee" blue paint, white paint, and some supplies. I also got some spray paint to match the quart of wall paint to use on the cabinets.

I then painted the wall white.

Go to WallyWorld and pick up a couple of the 30 drawer parts bins that Akro-Mills makes. You know...the square container with the plastic drawers. A coupe of those go a long way towards storage of smaller stuff. The last ones I bought were red and around $10 apiece.

Really neat project. It'd be cool if you had a place to put the retired Yanks' numbers on the wall.

Subscribed because I think this project of yours is a honorable tribute to a Dad, who's son is very thoughtful and giving.

How much more time do you have?

Maybe a month or two. It's not exact, so we have to hurry.

I am planning on setting up a video camera in the garage before he see's so so I can record his reaction.

Then we painted the legs of the table a hammered silver. And put the stencils on it to spell Yankees.
p1010585n.jpg

It still needs some touch up. Here is the wall almost complete.

Next we got some counter top paint and painted the sink.

Next we painted the back wall white and the bench blue.

We also put round molding around the bench.

p1010640u.jpg

We then painted the front of the bench the hammered silver, put the metal rack back up and hooked up the stereo. Before he had two big speakers so instead we got him a 7.1 system. Two of the speakers are above the bench. Another two are on the upper top corners. And the last two are above the door. We also painted the lids of the glass containers hammered silver, and took all of the labels off the jars themselves.
