Ok, I'm struggling with my man door light fixture rough in, I have a motion light I want to install on the exterior wall.
I bought a raised trim panel for it in order to install my vinyl siding,it comes in 2 peices so once trimmed out you install the finish ring to cover the vinyl.
So my problem is,I went and cut in a octagon box into my exterior sheeting, flush with the outside surface, set my trim peice over but then realized that the trim panel sticks out about an inch from the surface so the elec box is now to deep to connect the mounting screws to the light??
One sugggestion was that I should have installed a pancake elect box on the surface of the sheeting,is this the normal procedure? Makes sense as it would add around an inch and the mounting plates screw may be long enough.
