Just like some of us give names to our cars, I'll bet many of you have named your garages / shops. Show us your shop/garage names and why (if not obvious)
Mine is Gail's Paradise Lost Garage. "Paradise Lost" was the name of a boring book many of us had to read in school. When we moved into our new first ever home, my wife thought our lovely backyard with trees and greenery was her idea of "Paradise"
After the garage went up---Paradise Lost

I'm not really moved in to mine yet. We built it first, and now it houses all of our stuff while I build the house. By the end of summer, I should be able to empty it out and make a proper shop out of it. We'll see what kind of name evolves. Right now, it's just 'The Barn'. As for vehicles, all of my elderly trucks have always been called 'Bubba'.

Due to the type of things that come out of mine, it's called the Hack Shack. Most recent example of the work to issue forth, is a '14 Cruze engine going in '12 Sonic. They have different rib count pulleys. Proper solution, change alternator and AC compressor pulleys. My solution, run the narrower of the two belts and see what happens. Total hack job, but what we can afford.

My personal work space has always been generally referred to as "The Shop" where my wife says I go to collect and work on "rusty metal." I sometimes call it the "Great Void" where many things go to vanish for sometimes years at a time before finally bubbling to the surface yet again, only to re-submerge until a future sighting, usually after I have purchased a new replacement. Upstairs is my "Man Cave" sanctuary, where none but the few are welcome.

Yours should be The Green Garage, or Phil's Green Garage. Alliteration seems to work around here, just look at Jack's "12 Gauge Garage"

Like Mark in Indiana, mine is just called "The Shop".
"Hey dear, I'm going out to the shop."

Coincidentally, there is bar not far from me that is also called "The Shop".
One can see how my dear wife might be confused about where I told her I was going . . .

Sometimes it's the workshop, sometimes it's the shed, mostly it's the garage.

(You guys who call it a "shop" should really put an apostrophe at the beginning to represent the missing "work").:lol_hitti

I named mine "WorkShop 88" back around the time I started my thread. The 88 denotes the year I was born, and 'workshop' just sounded better to me then garage, shop, workspace, etc. At 12'x22', it's hardly the size of what I would typically consider a workshop should be, but I've tried to smartly pack everything in and still be able to pull a vehicle in. It's still a work in progress, but aren't they all?

16 years ago, I put a 30x64 two stories building on an almost 5+ acre lot. My brother and I were 50/50 partners until his divorce 10 years ago when I bought him out.

To my brother (we both are machinists) it's "The Shop"
To my wife it's the "BARN" (shape of the building)
To my kids it's "Oh God, we need to help Dad move heavy stuff again"

I purchased an adjoining lot, removed a house, and just built the retirement (next 10 years) home and now 6.5 acres. New name is "The compound" and now have "house", "lawn garage", and "out back"= formally shop/barn. the only thing that didn't change was "Oh God, we need to help Dad move heavy stuff again" and they wont' return my calls...

Mine is "The Wretched Mess Garage". That's what I started with before the build. That's what I make in it after the build. My tag line says it all.

Depends on who you ask

Wife - G2, since its the 2nd garage
Friends - The Mark Mahal
Daughter - The Mark Park

Not sure which I like best yet, I do like *******'s Garage, but its old hat and the Nieces (nor SIL) would not appreciate it

Mine is mainly called the garage too but my friends and I started referring to it as "Lakeside Cycle". Because I live near a lake and I had so many motorcycles in it after construction. Then as the years went on we called it whatever I was working most on...Lakeside Auto, Lakeside Welding, Lakeside Construction yada yada. You get the idea. That ended up morphing into the actual name of my side business which is now Lakeside Truck and Trailer Service.

My place is known as "The 'Schmitt Haus" because I restore Messerschmitt microcars. I normally just refer to it as "The Shop".

Let me just say that I personally have been to the Schmitt Haus and it is easily one of the most fantastic shops I've ever seen. And the hospitality is second to none.

The projects in the Schmitt Haus when I was there a couple months ago were awesome too. Truly a one of a kind shop and man.

I hope many of my fellow GJers are able visit and see the inspiration that I did.

I have 2-20x24 garages

Named
Attached and Detached

Pretty simple and she knows what I'm working on

Attached is basically wood working
Detached is Mechanical and fabrication

Hoping to build an addition on detached. That way all tools are in one location.

I can build an office/guest bedroom in attached to help give us more livable space

Thank You for the compliments! I enjoy having other enthusiasts visit and see the projects. The "Haus" is something I have always wanted, an equipped place of my own that I can have everything under one roof. Too bad most of us can't afford it until later in life. I spend quite a bit of time there sometimes working and sometimes just looking around and enjoying the space and my vehicles.

"The Creeper" for my van.

The garage started out as "The Grunge Garage", Became "The Great Little Garage", but now it needs a new name because all garage activity has been removed and it's in transition to a metal shop.
