Ok guys I had this on another forum but I knew that you guys would appreciate this more so I am going to post the whole build here too, so bare with me.

We broke ground in late December on my new garage-down/office-up. Will not be on par with some of the garages on here but it is mine and it is paid for. So i am not complaining. Will keep you updated on the build. Here is my Car in front of her new home. New Garage will be added on to the main house by means of covered carport/breezeway. 28X40 with 1- 9' wide door and 1- 18' wide door. Upstairs will be the office which in reality will be a two bedroom 1 1/2 bath house w/ full kitchen and laundry room. I figured i would make good use of it no matter what happens in the future.

Coming along despite the rain! Once we started it rained about every other day. It ended up raining so much that it put me about 1 1/2 months behind schedule. New Moduline cabinets ordered. Furniture for upstairs ordered, including cabinets and office furniture. Will be roofing and tying the framing into the main house this week. Should be able to pour slab end of week if the rain holds off. Next plumbing, electrical, HVAC and then local inspection. Here is another pic.

Off to a good start. Where do you live to have all the rain.

Send some rain this way, Texas is dry.

Thanks. These pics were in Dec and early Jan. Knoxville, TN. We have been really wet this winter and early spring. I will post more pics of my project as it is close to completion now.

Coming along. First sunny day since we began framing. Decided on industrial grade epoxy for the floor covering (this changed later and I went with Racedeck Flooring) The section connecting the two structures is going to be a carport area that will tie in with my back yard flagstone patio around our pond. The underside of the breezeway and carport will be finished with cedar post and tongue and groove ceiling. I am putting a couple of hanging fans under the carport so it will double as carport and sitting area. The new garage has two bays, one 9' and one 18'. It will fit three cars and have a mechanical room behind the stairs for the hot water heater, compressor and furnace.

Sheetrock should be done in the next couple of days. Bricks are going up as well. Siding on the dormers should start next week too. Flooring, bath tiles and trim should start as well. Unpacked my Modulines and they are awesome. I am really impressed with the build quality. My flagstone patio along with my boulder retaining wall located behind the carport should start this week depending on weather. It will be done before I know it.

I had to make a decision on the garage floor. I was going with epoxy but couldn't get the color I wanted so my next decision was Aspart-x from line-x. Well I had one of the local line-x was going to use me as a guinea pig and do it for cost (which was still really expensive) but they felt they couldn't please me with their expertise (none) with a solid color. I got another bid from an out of town line-x but it was crazy expensive. Will not be using them for flooring. Sooooo I went with Race Deck. Should be here soon. Black order with red and black in the field. Tuffshield is the product. Hopefully it comes out nice.

New outside pics. The Tyvek and the windows will get taped and sealed as the siding go on this week. Hopefully the copper eyebrows can get done too. The boulder retaining wall and the extended flagstone patio gets attention this week as well.

We are changing out the shutter to wood board and batten shutters. The front columns on the house are coming off and being replaced with wood columns and the front bean above the columns is being wrapped with rough cut cedar to match my back porch and the carport addition between the house and the garage. It is sort of funny how taste change through the years. Looking back I would have picked a more earthy brick and intermingled stone with the brick for a rustic look.

These latest photos are within the last three weeks. I have some more to post. Sorry for the photo dump but didn't find this forum until midway through the build. Enjoy.

Great setup. After landscape goes in, will look like it was built with the house. Seamless. Looking forward to more pics.

Yeah, sorry about that. I had some really big pics and I couldn't get them resized so I copied them off of the other site. WHen I did though it posted them with only about 11kb (really small). I will try to fix.

That was the idea (seamless) when I did the design. So far so good. Sometimes doesn't work out the way you plan.

Your pictures have given me some great ideas for my own build. We are adding a 2 car to an existing 2 car facing forward. My wife does not want the front of the house to be all garage ... Duh ... We can turn the new build. Thanks!
